The Body Heals Itself

Pocket

The body has the natural ability to heal itself. Have you ever thought of what life would be like without doctors, hospitals, or medications? Could you survive? Of course you can and will. It’s just unfortunate that our lifestyles don’t give us enough practice of our self healing capabilities. The second we feel a certain way we rush to the doctor or the pharmacist, often quite unnecessarily. My orthodontist gave me the strangest look after adjusting my braces the last time. When she told me to go and purchase whatever I use for pain and headache before I go home, my response to her was; “OK, that’ll be a movie and my pillow”, in other words, no meds for me.

The first step in self healing comes from the mind. You must have the thought planted in your mind that you feel not just good, but great. Don’t ever anticipate pain or illness before it arrives, and don’t succumb to it should it appear. The fact is that we have been trained in an ill way. We are so accustomed to the negative thought of bad outcomes that we suddenly become pain seekers rather than health believers. This is what leads us to the loss of our own faith and the abuse of medication. Often medical intervention disrupts the body’s natural ability to restore health to its fullest potential. This has often the cause of further illnesses, other disease, and sometimes even death. Did you know that close to 100,000 people die from the PROPER use of medication yearly?

For your body to heal itself you must first know your body and what it lacks as well as its areas of excess.  A healthy body is one of balance, both mental and physical. Naturopaths believe that illness and injury are disruptions of your body’s normal state of equilibrium. The common naturopathic treatments deal with diet, lifestyle modification, herbal meds, and mind-body therapies (meditation, hypnosis, and etc). We’ve all heard of the laws of attraction, how thoughts lead to manifestation. This is also true with the healing of our bodies. We all know someone who has been expected to die and just refused to believe it and as a result continued to live on. Also we often hear of a life threatening disease disappearing and never returning. Call it coincident al or a miracle or whatever you choose; it still is summed up as a result of your mental state. The mind is the central control center of the body and has a major impact on your existence and extent of your health and wellness. When the mind is healthy the body will follow, and when the mind is unhealthy, the body is vulnerable to disease and left on its own to fight, and often loses. The first step to acquiring or maintaining a healthy mind is to exercise positive thoughts daily to the point that bad thoughts become foreign to you. Don’t allow negativity a right to visit or reside in your mind. Smile often don’t let the dentist be the only one to see your teeth. Spend periods throughout the day to give yourself a time to reflect on something pleasant and let a silent smile confirm it. I call this, a moment of  “smilence”

Please understand the importance of the mind/body relationship and how they impact your life. Whatever exercise you implement to create mental balance, do it often and watch the lifestyle improvement manifest in yourself and all of those around you. Do you believe that the body has the capability to heal itself?

  1. Funny this should be your post today…… I just had a discussion about this very thing yesterday with the produce guy at Giant Food. We were talking about getting over colds and other ailments and I started talking to him about the healing properties of vegetables as opposed to over-the-counter drugs and prescriptions. I was telling him about how Steven and I both got colds at the same time and how I only used garlic, onions, honey, and lemon to cure my cold, while he used cough medicine, prescriptions, etc. I’m over it and he’s still coughing and taking drugs. Why? Because medicines do exactly what the bottle says. They address the symptoms, not the ailment. I told the grocer that I believe the body has the ability to heal itself and went on to talk to him about the Xray I had of my foot in December and how the doctor said, “It looks like you had an old injury and it healed itself. Did you have a fracture a long time ago?” I said, “Not that I know of.” The doctor said, “Well, you have an old injury and it looks like the bone healed itself.” So…..just goes to show you that the body does, indeed, have the ability to heal itself! I didn’t even know I had the fracture.

    1. Charlene, I agree and find that to be so true. I’ll try something natural first and foremost. I find that when I give my body time to heal that the problem takes care of itself eventually. I tell anyone experiencing a cold to take garlic if nothing else. It’s a natural antibiotic and no kitchen cabinet should be without it. By using garlic on a regular helps to rid the body of infections as well.

  2. I absolutely feel that positive thinking and the power of GOD has everything to do with healing the body. I’m a perfect example on how positive thinking helps to heal….let me explain, a little over a year ago I had surgery to remove a fibriod tumor that was the size of a 4 month old fetus. In the process of the fibroid tumor removal to everyone’s surprise, Doctors found cancer all over my reproductive organs with mets to my liver and I was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. I had taken chemo in hopes that it would heal me. When I realized that it wasn’t helping and it was actually killing me I stopped it right away. Its funny how Doctors would give you something that they know DOESN’T work.(its really all about the money but anyway) My doctors are scratching there heads and are trying to figure out, 1. How are my liver tumors shrinking without the aid of chemotheraphy and 2. Why am I not in pain if I have stage 4 cancer. Well, all I can say is that I juice raw veggies on a daily basis ,I think only positive things, and Godly intervention. I haven’t taken any meds since the surgery which was a little over a year ago and I feel GREAT! Thank you for an excellent article. Michelle M.

    1. Michelle, thanks for sharing your story…It’s very inspirational!!! it just goes to show that with so many people being diagnosed with cancer these days, there are ways to beat it. It’s refreshing to hear that you have been off of the meds and have testified to the fact that through God’s intervention and your powerful and very positive thought process worked well in your favor.

Telling your story is so powerful and I’m sure very healing to many who have or are going through what you’ve been through.

Hopefully, someone reading your words will be inspired to not give up and to keep the hope as they focus in on the process of allowing the body to heal itself.

      Thanks again!!!:-)

  3. This is such an awesome article! I’ve always been aware of the spirit, mind & body connection even as a child. However, when we are children and raised in an environment that’s not conducive to this fact, one begins to think otherwise. When you live in this world system, it’s all based on profit between the doctors & pharmaceutical companies. If you don’t have a strong mindset, they will program you to believe that all this medicine is necessary. Years ago, when our ancestors were alive they didn’t have the resources to go to doctors. However, what did have was resources from mother earth, prayer and remedies that brought them back to health. Thanks for sharing, I look forward to more. Peace & blessings!

    1. Felita, I agree…It’s definitely all about having the spirit, mind & body connection. There was a time in life when our ancestors depended greatly on mother earth resources and the power behind prayer which brought them back to health. It would be nice if we could get back to that point. Thanks for your feedback!

  4. Hello, I was wondering on you were still answering messages … I am coming from many years of hurting. I did not know how to let it go and it has effected my body. I grew constipated and more angry. I had no one to talk to and held it in. Asking for help from my family was impossible. So suffered. Now that I am opening up an admitting my pain, I feel the tension in my body being released. I have not cried in so long. I have had moments of happiness the physical pain wasso much. I know we can heal or never get this way because talking about it helps. I am going through my healing process which I don’t really understand. I’m doing it alone, its scary. Any advice?

  5. Theta day that if we live long we Will be alone because that would mean we out lived every one we knew. That’s a scary thought if you feel alone. We are not alone. There is God and if you get to know him you will never be alone. If you hand over your pain to him he will heal you. God blees
